Michael Burch and Diane
Wilk Join
Lake Arrowhead Chamber of Commerce You may have seen them around town, 3-1/2 year old triplets with their parents. You may even know their names, but chances are you don't know much more about them.
Michael Burch and
Diane Wilk are parents of triplets James,
Katherine and Richard whose family has been
around Lake Arrowhead for a very long time.
Michael and Diane are architects and members of
the Lake Arrowhead Chamber of Commerce. Diane's
grandparents first started coming to our
mountains in the 1940s, her parents honeymooned
here and Diane's love of architecture began with
her exposure to some of our great mountain homes
and the old Village as a young child. Michael,
who is a 3rd generation Californian in the
building trades, started coming up to Lake
Arrowhead with Diane in the late 70s. He too
fell in love with the mountain and her charm.
Both Diane and Michael are well versed in knowledge of California's architectural history. Michael taught architectural design at USC and Diane was a tenured faculty member at the University of Colorado and Director of the Graduate Program in Architecture and Urban Design. While in Colorado, Diane was instrumental in producing a series of pocket guidebooks on Denver's Historic Architecture. Michael brought Diane back to California and back to Lake Arrowhead.
Much of Michael's
practice has focused on restorations and
additions to homes built in the 1920s and 30s,
and on traditional style new construction.
Together, Michael and Diane design homes,
interiors and landscapes that evoke a by-gone
era. Their Arrowhead home was on the 25th
Annual Lake Arrowhead Chamber of Commerce Home
Tour six years ago. Currently they have an
addition to a lakefront house under construction
and are developing design sketches for a new
lakefront house. A realtor recently commented
on their work "If you are looking for
architectural integrity, you won't find better
work than this."
Michael and Diane are on the Advisory Committee for the Lake Arrowhead Community Plan and the Shareholders Advisory Group for the L.A.C.S.D. They are also members of the Rim of the World Historical Society, St. Richard's Episcopal Church and the Lake Arrowhead Yacht Club. |
