CAROLWOOD DRIVE RESIDENCE, HOLMBY HILLS, CA. Renovation of
the 17,000 square foot 1925 Kern Residence by George Washington
Smith. Additions by the former owner, Rod Stewart, were not in
the style of the original house and were remodeled.
These alterations included the resdesign of the flat-roofed
elevator shaft on the front of house to a Mediterranean Style
tower, conversion of the tilt-up concrete slab Disco with Art
Nouveau details to Venetian Palazzo Ballroom and remodel of the
Kitchen/Family Room area.
The project has been published in a number of books and articles
including two books,
LEGENDARY ESTATES OF BEVERLY HILLS
by Rizzoli International and DREAM HOMES OF LOS ANGELES by
Panache Press. Articles featuring the project also appear
in ARCHITECTURAL DIGEST, TOWN & COUNTRY and RESIDENTIAL
ARCHITECT.
