FUENTES (JARVIS EARL ESTATE), LA CANADA FLINTRIDGE, CA. THIS
PROJECT INCLUDED THE RESTORATION OF AND RENOVATIONS OF THE HOUSE OF
THE DEVELOPER OF THE ALTA CANYADA HOUSING DEVELOPMENT (NOW LA
CANADA) IN 1925. The house was originally designed by Wallace
Neff's partner, Everett Babcock. The project includes a new
Kitchen/Family Room, Media Room, Master Suite, Spa and Gardens.
The most interesting design challence was to visually reorient the
house to the street. In the 1950s, the property was subdivided
into five separate lots and with three houses now built in front of
what was originally the front yard. Access to the property is
now from the side of the property and there was no street presence.
Through the re-working of the landscaping, the house again has a
street presence.
This project was featured on the front page of the Home Section of
the Los Angeles Times and has been published in two Rizzoli books,
CLASSIC HOMES OF LOS ANGELES and THE CALIFORNIA CASA. It has
also appeared in PASADENA MAGAZINE.
